Baby spider monkey confiscated by Border Patrol agents coming to Brevard Zoo

A baby spider monkey who was found being smuggled into the U.S. at the Mexican border will soon have a new home at the Brevard Zoo.

Border Patrol agents said the animal was confiscated at the U.S. border after it was found in the console of a vehicle.

WATCH: Meet Brevard Zoo's Newest Resident, Nine-Month Old Brazilian Porcupine 'Shelley'

Shelley is a nine-month-old Brazilian porcupine who came to us from a private, accredited facility in central Florida.

She is the first member of her species housed at the Zoo in over a decade - faithful visitors may recall seeing Brazilian porcupines Patrick, Fluffy, Captain, and Eddie in La Selva between 1999 and 2009.

Cats on the Move | Brevard Zoo Blog

Brevard Zoo is building a second bobcat exhibit and connecting it with an overhead shift. Additionally, they're building a temporary home for a new pride of lions on the Wild Florida trail. When the permanent lion exhibit is built, the temporary home will be converted to house Florida panthers or additional black bears.
So basically in short, the zoo has decided to not cancel their plans to add some lions into their already wonderful animal collection. If so, I will be very intrigued to see what the future has in store for this delightful little zoological institution over the next year or so.
