Brevard Zoo is building a second bobcat exhibit and connecting it with an overhead shift. Additionally, they're building a temporary home for a new pride of lions on the Wild Florida trail. When the permanent lion exhibit is built, the temporary home will be converted to house Florida panthers or additional black bears.

So basically in short, the zoo has decided to not cancel their plans to add some lions into their already wonderful animal collection. If so, I will be very intrigued to see what the future has in store for this delightful little zoological institution over the next year or so.
A female Baird’s Tapir at Brevard is currently pregnant. The calf is due August/September of this year. An Eastern Bongo is also pregnant at the moment.

The zoo has rescued a green sea turtle who has over 20 tumors on his body. Apparently the tumors are caused by a virus common to sea turtles, particularly green ones. They are doing a work up on him to decide how best to treat him. He was one of 3 they took in this week to help.
