BioParque do Rio Rio de Janeiro Zoo (Bioparque do Rio)

as we know, the bioparque is not ready yet, there are still many things to do, one thing i want to say, it's we will be able to see the harpy eagle again, including the king vulture, hawks and the hornbill, they will build enclosures that represent their habitats and a friend of andré sebastião named bruno(HipopótamosRiozoo) told me they are planning to bring rhinos to the zoo, it's a future project of them

Great to know about these future developments. I was anxious to know if they would build an area for birds of prey, as the institution keeps many species of these animals.

one thing i forgot to say, it's there will be another petting zoo at the zoo, i think it's nice but if i was the director i would invest more in the expansion and the conservation of the animals, i would try to bring the old animals back to the zoo like, asian black bears, hyenas, cockatoos, condors, dromedary camels, bactrian camels, black caimans, plus new animals the zoo never holded.

Oh, really? Do you know what animals will be kept in the new petting zoo?
Agree with you, I would be in favor of bringing back some animals to the collection, specially the many natives that weren't contemplated in the renovation.

also, there is another new talking about, but it says that the couple of gaurs have arrived in bioparque, but it's wrong, because actually 3 buffaloes arrived in bioparque, they still will get the gaurs.

hey guys, do you rememeber of the non renovated area of the zoo? so, i've heard they already started to destroy the old constructions, it seems like they will end in the end of 2022, and they are joining the enclosures in one, and when david mentioned the baboons, i think they will be holded in the non renovated area.

hey guys, breaking news, i saw a deputy saying that bioparque must remove black people statue, because she thinks it's racist, and there many people disagreeding with her. in my opinion, i think it's a representation of africa, i don't see anything that is racist.

I have to say the Bioparque indeed has some extremely cheesy decorations. That includes some animal statues (that they seem to change of place almost everyday) and the native african people statues in the african savanna. That's one of the motives that makes me consider their sense of immersion too artificial and tacky in some specific cases. I honestly don't think those statues are necessary. I am sure they didn't add them with the objective of being racists, but IMO, they show some sort of stereotyped and grotesque representation of the african cultures, specially when they are located among that huge ammusement park styled heron statue and inside a cassowary exhibit...

yeah.

Those statues were very offensive. Good that they were removed. There are many better ways to use that space in the African savana than returning to colonialist themes.

Agree. As I previously said, I found it too stereotypical and ludicrous to add "people" as theme pieces. The park's sceneries are already a bit too artificial, and those statues brings some sort of feeling of an "exoticity exhibition", just like those in the past centuries, and that sounds terrible at all.

hey guys, do you remember andré sebastião? so, he told me the otters were transferred to the former spectacled bear exhibit and the bears were transferred to the old cougar exhibit, but the cougars are living next to them.
