UPDATE 2 (Oryx Club, 18th January 2009)

- Marwell's 2009 conservation campaign is for Cheetahs, called 'Sprint'. Funds raised will also go towards building a new enclosure for cheetahs.
- Press favourites Lola the Pygmy Hippo calf (now 2 months) and new Bactrian Camel Marmaduke doing well. The camels are temporarily being held in the old ankole yard near the red pandas.
- With the pudu gone, their old house is currently home to a hand reared ostrich chick hatched on the 6th November.
- Two addax calves born on the day.
- A black widow from the RSPCA currently on display in Encounter Village.
- Three Frilled Lizards have arrived and currently off show until a home is made for them in Tropical World or Encounter Village.
- Two more capybara calves born in December.
- The Horse-Headed Grasshoppers now on show in Tropical World.
- The Ground Hornbills have left. (Shame, they were my favourite bird in the park.)
- Vicuna have moved to one of the house/yards opposite the coatis.
- Amphibian Centre still not finished.
- On a personal note, the otters killed a pigeon that flew into their enclosure and were devouring it very quickly.

They did say, though unfourtunately my noggin' isn't remembering where.

Good to see Marwell getting frilled lizards, they are a fantastic species, are there any others in the UK?

west midlands had them labled in the reptile house thoguh i couldn't see any and another species of lizard was also labed in the same tank.

two points, a new cheetah enclosure will be great, any ideas where it will be?

and is it me or have birdworld never had ground hornbills, ive never seen them there?

So far the cheetah enclosure is still in discussion stages, meaning that there are currently no confirmations on it's location, features, etc.

i think its original spot is too small, could it part of the new valley area? ps did they metion anything more about that?
