Where do the Deer & Antelope Play?: A Look at America's Ungulate Populations

In México Leon zoo has a male okapi. Along with the Mexican zoos mentioned above Leon, Morelia, Merida and Neza zoos have bred the so called retículated giraffes . Also many comercial Safari parks in México have 1 or a pair of generic giraffes but that information is quite disperse.
I was under the impression most of their reticulate giraffes are hybrids with other giraffe species. I would have to look at the ISB again.

San Diego now has Golden, Mishimi, and Sishuan takins.
The Safari park lost its Giant Eland.

The Takin have always been recorded, they've been there for some years now. As reported, the safari park should still have some elderly females off-show iirc.

They will be hybrids.

How do you know?

@MonkeyBat Visited the zoo a few days ago and didn’t see any reference to them, and the zoo’s website states their former exhibit now contains bennett’s wallaby’s. Since it’s quite possible that the animal was elderly and either passed away, or was shipped out. It’s hard to know for sure what happened, but it seems pretty likely that Gulf Breeze no longer keeps bay duiker. Admittedly, I probably shouldn’t have said anything until further evidence was provided, but in the moment, it seemed fairly certain the fate of the duiker (at least to me).

Racine's last Caucasian tur, Tavek, has sadly passed away. And with his passing, this species has disappeared from US AZA zoos. However, Toronto still has them and is actively breeding them but that is likely going to change in the next couple years.

Racine Zoo's last tur dies
Hemker Park zoo should still keep Caucasian tur. I will hopefully be visiting within the next two weeks to confirm

Take a full species list and photos of any unidentified animals if you would!

Hemker is a very mysterious zoo in that they get sent a lot of rare species from the AZA but also aren't very transparent about what they keep.

I’ll plan on it!
EDIT: On an unrelated note, there’s apparently a zoo near a small town known as Vegas, MN called the “Trowbridge Creek Zoo”, and according their Facebook, they keep Common Eland, Scimitar-Horned Oryx, generic Sika, Kordofan Sheep, & Plains Zebra. Take this with a grain of salt, because there isn’t much known about this place.

That's another place I have USDA for that I'm curious about. Hemker had a recent inspection so I can PM you a list of what they're supposed to have if you'd like.

Hemker Park Zoo keeps Southern Gerenuk, Speke’s Sitatunga, Addra Gazelle, Thompson’s Gazelle, Lesser Kudu, White-Lipped Deer, Rocky Mountain Goat, Plains Pronghorn, & Turkmenian Markhor, and may or may not keep Red-Flanked Duiker (saw no evidence of them being there, but were listed on their USDA Inspection from 3 months ago).

@ThylacineAlive I have a question related to the Cervid rules that I thought you might be able to answer. According to the state fish and wildlife, the state of Massachusetts has a ban on all live cervid imports. However, last year the Buttonwood Park Zoo imported Chilean pudu and a few years before that the Franklin Park Zoo acquired a muntjac. If a Zoo in Massachusetts wanted to manage deer, what species could they theoretically acquire? I know Southwicks manages large herds of elk, sika, and fallow deer so these would all be options. White-tailed deer are sometimes available as rescues, so could be an option that way. And apparently pudu and muntjac can come into the state as well. Could anything else legally enter the state? Tufted Deer? White-lipped Deer?
