Sadly most of the uploaded footage from this year shows only three cows...one adult and two adolescents, older footage almost always shows all five cows together.
I've noticed some individuals of this species have passed away following changes to their environment or husbandry made after what would be many years of stasis. I wonder if this is a contributing factor to premature death if there are underlying health issues present.
It would appear over the winter that the enclosure space was reduced while the extension was constructed, which would have likely caused some noise and disruption, also the younger cows are reaching sexual maturity which could have caused group dynamics to shift, given the older cows were unrelated.
It's great and all that the enclosure has been increased in size with areas of softer substrate, but the none of the publicity mentions the house so it would appear to be the same indoor facility as before and likely not a modern, soft floor, although I don't know if the group is confined at night.
It's encouraging to see Jassa being mixed at times with the cows, it's possible he'll have more success with fewer mature females in the group, but ideally there would be an exchange if there isn't a successful mating in the next few years. I wonder if the EEP would provide another bull unless certain standards were met, particularly with the house, so unless there have been off-show improvements perhaps this explains the lack of movement here.
