LOL @Polar bear fan we both posted at nearly the exact same time and said pretty much the exact same things!

OMG I just noticed that! You’re right that is almost the exact same information in every way at the same time. Great minds think alike I guess. LOLLOL @Polar bear fan we both posted at nearly the exact same time and said pretty much the exact same things!![]()
GEEZ 119 siblings. Someone has been busy. May be a stupid question, but are they allowed to import? I thought you couldn’t bring in Asian elephants from their native range.Well then I believe a group of cows could come from Pairi Daiza with the Khaing Hnin Hnin clan arriving in Tulsa, or a group from Thailand most likely from Nong Nooch Tropical gardens they have over 100 calves born last year a male calf was born to a 52 year old female he has at least 119 to 120 other siblings and with three years till the opening of 13 acre elephant complex I think that is more then enough time to sort out things out politicly considering Rotterdam and Smithsonian and Cincinnati and Dublin
Well that is for wild imports that was banned in the 1970s I believe, and vast majority of the elephants at Nong Nooch are captive bornGEEZ 119 siblings. Someone has been busy. Are they allowed to import. I thought you couldn’t bring in Asian elephants from their native range.
Ohhh ok, thank you! I couldn’t remember what the rules were.Well that is for wild imports that was banned in the 1970s I believe, and vast majority of the elephants at Nong Nooch are captive born
Your very welcomeOhhh ok, thank you! I couldn’t remember what the rules were.
I haven’t seen too much info on what will and will not be viewable once the expansion begins. It’s my understanding that the current building will remain and the new barn will be built nearby. I would imagine that that the current facility will remain open while construction is done on the other parts. With the elephant improvements and expansion breaking ground soon, will the elephant habitats still be viewable in fall 2022? I'm asking this because I'm thinking about a southwest trip then and would hate to miss out on seeing Sneezy. Also, why is his outoddor viewing area covered in 1-inch viewing mesh? Does Sneezy try to throw things at guests?
Is Sneezy's indoor stall viewable like Sooky's? That's too bad about that throwing objects habit! I know that an iPhone's camera can fit between the mesh but a regular camera won't. Does he look bigger in person than the photos you see of him online? Tulsa Zoo on their Insta said that he's only 9'6" tall. As for the mesh, yes, Sneezy had a habit in the past (not sure if he still does) of throwing items out of his enclosure. This is why they added the mesh overlook with the roof in order to protect visitors.

Hope he's able to breed. He's one of the most, if not the most genetically valuable bull in the US!Sneezys indoor stall is not visible from inside the building, but on almost every visit we’ve made he is in his outdoor yard. You can view his outdoor yard from the mesh area outside or through the glass windows inside the building. The Tulsa Zoo says he comes in at about 10’. He certainly seems quite large when you see him in person.
I'd love to get back to ZT2. The only problem is I now have a new computer and I keep getting the "0xc000007b" error. Don't know how to resolve it and can't afford to risk damaging my computer until May after I finish my grad school program.@StoppableSan and I can appreciate this post. We were some of the most active ZT2 builders when it was active.![]()
Even if the ruined temple theme is played out (cough cough Lost Kingdom), this'll be the first time this has been done for elephants I've seen, at least in the states. Any renderings of the actual outdoor yards? The Tulsa Zoo has posted some updated renderings of what the renovation of the existing elephant habitat and building will look like as well as what the new barn will look like. Ground breaking appears to still be sometime here at the beginning of the year.
