Weltvogelpark Walsrode news from Walsrode 2021

Thank you for all your updates and photos from Walsrode, Daniel. They are definitely enjoyed.

I definitely also need to get back to Walsrode, it's been 15 years since my visit there. Unfortunately with the current covid situation it doesn't look likely our idea of a northern Germany mini zoo road trip will be happening in 2022...

Am I right thinking this year has been exceptionnaly good when it comes to the number of species Walsrode aquired ? Or is it like any other year?

The park is closed for the season but I thought that I might post one last update with new species for the park.

Yellowish-streaked lory (Chalcopsitta scintillata)
Madagascar partridge (Margaroperdix madagarensis)
Swift parrot (Lathamus discolor)
Shining honeycreeper (Cyanerpes lucidus)
Eurasian hoopoe (Upupa epops epops)
Black-winged starling (Acridotheres melanopterus)

Bold text = Species/subspecies only kept at Walsrode (In Europe)
Sources: Zootierliste & My last visit to the park (October 31st).

Altogether this has been a great year for the park with many new species (Several very rare ones as well!). Let's hope that next year will be good as well!

Did you see the shining honeycreeper??
