You will believe a shark can roar: Zoological malpractice in Hollywood.

Guys it’s Disney. All the animals talk and dance and live together rather harmoniously. You can’t expect things in Disney movies to be very realistic :p:rolleyes:

True, true, my drama teacher had to leave and the day before she left it was decided we would just watch The Lion King. I commented about the anteaters while we were watching, I probably got some weird looks, thought I wasn’t paying attention, and also would not have cared ;) :p

I have no idea why they decided to include anteaters in a movie set in Africa. Like it’s not very hard to do your research before you make a whole movie. Nevertheless, Lion King has always been one of my favorite Disney movies. I used to be obsessed with Lion king family trees and would read anything I could find about it online! :p:rolleyes:

The inclusion of Giant Anteaters is most likely a stlyistc choice for Disney, and I am still every much a Lion King fanatic

That part of the movie always confused me, why are a meerkat and warthog living in a forest? Also why did they even go into a barren wasteland desert either there would not be a real reason to.
The direct-to-video movie The Lion King 1 1/2 shows how Timon and Pumbaa met and how they eventually found the jungle. Basically they wander around the savanna in search of their “dream home” and (minor spoilers) after thinking they’ve found it several times only to be proven wrong, the meerkat and warthog eventually go down a waterfall (after getting caught in a wildebeest stampede) and wash up in the oasis where they would later raise Simba. At the beginning of the film, before Timon decides to leave his mob of meerkats, he is shown to be living in a deserty area like his species realistically would, and he meets Pumbaa not far away from it.

I love this movie, pure gold!!!

Disney's Tarzan has gorillas making noises like chimpanzees and a leopard sounding off like a cougar, among others.
Big cats sounding like like mountain lions isn’t a strange decision from Disney. Ever since the original Jungle book, they have had a tendency for using cougar growls (I’ve heard them in both the jungle book, Tarzan and their documentaries True-Life adventures for leopards and Jaguars)

Regarding to the cougar roars, they even use them for the roars of leopards and cheetahs in The Chronicles of Narnia.

Bovidae!? Excuse me, SeaWorld, but how are camels considered bovids?

To be fair, camels and bovids were once classed as "selenodonts" as hippos were classed as Suina.

That still doesn't change the fact that camels aren't a bovid.

I have just watched this documentary (called Fabulous Animals: Myths and Legends) about the mythical and cultural importance of real animals, in this case about the American bison.

At around 13:30, there is footage (I don't know if it was shot specially for the programme or borrowed from another film) showing American bison 'carcasses' being scavenged by a cinereous vulture, a Eurasian griffon vulture and an Andean condor, with the addition of a yellowhammer singing in the background.
