It's rather interesting that despite being such an old zoo with so many species, Milwaukee doesn't have very many "former" exhibits. Most of the zoo that was built many decades ago still stands today. Despite this, there are a ton of species that have come and gone throughout the years. A good chunk of the zoos central outdoor area is still labeled Africa/Asia/South America, so to avoid any confusion I will be dividing the three into their own lists. Also, I am not aware of the dates many of these species were phased out so please forgive me for the lack of info on that front.

I visited Milwaukee County Zoo for the first time in 2016. After that trip, I read the entry on the zoo in Allen Nyhuis's 1994 "Zoo Book." It was pretty surprising how the zoo seemed virtually the same from its description written over 20 years earlier.
 
I would be nice to have the year of phase-out for each species when known.

Aren't the Tayras still around bts? I think the Moose are too. And when did Milwaukee have Goliath Heron?

If Milwaukee had turkeys they would have been Wild Turkeys. Are you sure they did, though? I know wild Wild Turkeys will often hang around in zoo exhibits.

I'm not sure about the tayras, but I believe at least one moose is still being held off exhibit. There may even be a tree kangaroo or two still around. The Goliath heron was around during the 80s and I am not sure when it was removed.

I know for a fact that the tree kangaroos are all gone.

The zoo still has a moose, though she’s backstage they still one, and I believe room to have more. I wonder what other animals still exist but aren’t on exhibit for the public to see.

I belive there used to be turkeys in the moose exhibit. Africa section used to have Spekes Gazelle if I remember correctly.

There were never any turkeys in that exhibit other than wild ones that may have flown in.
