Out of curiosity, do you have any idea where the Patagonian Sea Lions that were on temporary show at Zoo Tampa a few years back were from or went to? I am thinking it was the same ones that are at Sarasota now, but would be interested to hear a confirmation.

Sarasota's specialty is/was South American. Most, if not all, were rescues. The place was a rescue facility for decades, before the owner opened it to tours in 2019. He unfortunately died at the end of 2019, and I'm not sure what the current status of the facility is.
I had never heard of the place, but that is really interesting. It looks like they may not be open to the public, all their web presence seems to be suspended or gone.

*edit*
cross posted with the post above this one. :)

The Sarasota facility appears to be closed. It's owner passed away in May of 2019. (Sarasota Sea Lion Preserve owner dies | East County | Your Observer) I don't know what the status of the facility nor the location of the animals at this point.

To answer @SwampDonkey 's question, the animals at ZooTampa during the temporary display would be the same animals in question from Sarasota.
Seeing as Sea Lion Splash is apparently still around, I would have to assume that the animals are still held at Sarasota.

Sea Lion Splash is (from this article I'll link below) just the travelling show of the Sarasota Sea Lion Preserve, so they are the same animals.
Sarasota Sea Lion Preserve now open to the public in Myakka City | East County | Your Observer

The South American Sealions are a mix, according to various articles I could find, of beach rescues imported from South America, captive-bred imports, and home-bred animals (one article says that the bull named Bruce was captive-born and is himself the father of animals bred at Sarasota). In the above linked article it says one of the females there was a beach rescue from Puerto Rico after escaping from a show in the Dominican Republic.

They aren't the same animals. Inspections of traveling groups are separate and don't include the animals at their home base; facility inspections don't include traveling animals.

Seaworld San Diego still has Guadalupe fur seals in my recent visit. The ringed seal and the harbor seals that were in the former polar bear exhibit (which now has two Northern sea otters) were moved back with their three belugas.

I'm just going off articles of course (so this could be completely wrong), but my impression is that the travelling show doesn't utilise the same animals constantly - so the animals at Sarasota and in the show are the same group of animals because individuals are at either one or the other, not with some permanently at Sarasota and some permanently travelling. If you see what I mean.

In addition to the walruses, Marineland Canada also has 5 California Sealions (from SWO), harbor seals (5), 3 were rescue/rehab from Vancouver Aquarium’s RRR program, 2 were moved from Storybook Gardens in early 2000s (now closed) , and their elder Grey Seal Delphine. @Dhole dude

Pacific or Atlantic Walrus? Just curious.
Mostly Pacific, possibly 2 Atlantic left in population, and 1 hybrid individual.

This thread will document all holders of Pinnipeds in both the U.S and Canada. Rehab Animals will not be included in this list, as it's quite difficult to keep track of what species are held at any given time. Research Facilities will not be included either. This list uses USDA inspections, which can be notoriously inaccurate, so any updates or corrections are greatly appreciated.
