Are you sure it's Alix and not her daughter Ziha though? Alix hasn't had a calf since Ziha in 2006 and is nearly 40 years old so I find it unlikely that she's pregnant, however it's not completely out of the question and being wildborn, another calf from her would be great! If she is indeed pregnant, the calf would be due around May 2022.
let’s hope both are pregnant. I have found with horses maiden mares usually do not show much. Maybe it’s same with elephants.

Yes I know these elephants very well and I'm sure that is Alix. Ziha is today nulliparous and it is more complicated to see if she is pregnant but it is possible.
Social animals such as elephants tend to have parallel cycles to improve rearing of young. It is quite possible that several births appear in a short time. For example, in 2006 in La Palmyre, three births took place in one week.

I believe it is females don't show that their pregnant until 18 months of gestation
Female elephants can be found pregnant via ultrasound as early as three months into their gestation. Physical signs can begin appearing after eight months, depending on the individual.
It is almost impossible to recognize the pregnancy of an elephant by the size of their belly. However, the pregnancy of a nulliparous female or one who hasnt had a calf in serveral years can be quite easily be ‚diagnosed‘ by the swelling of their tits. Just look between the front legs and check. The tits start to grow only a few months into the pregnancy and by the time the female is 12+ months pregnant, its usually very obvious. If the female is still nursing an older calf, its much more difficult though.

After checking, I could see in photos published on social networks, that Ziha had an evolution of her tits which are now developed and very apparent. To compare, in July 2020, her tits were almost invisible.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any recent images showing Alix's tits perfectly.
But here is a photo from the beginning of March.
And here is a second photo, showing a physical evolution. This picture is from yesterday. I'm pretty sure she's pregnant, a month ago she looked completely different.

Does anyone know what pregnancies there are in the UK at the moment? I know that there might be one at Whipsnade, but that's about it. Thanks.

The only cows that could be pregnant in the UK in my opinion are Noor Jahan and Tara at Blackpool, Sundara at Chester, and Geetha at Whipsnade
The Blackpool girls are most likely; it’s been more than two years now so at least one of them must be pregnant especially considering Emmett is a very successful breeding bull. Sundara is a possibility (she last gave birth two years ago), so I’d consider it likely especially since Chester’s breeding gaps are almost always around three to four years. Donna’s a a chance at Whipsnade, and Tamini at Wodburn is a stretch, but still possible.
Hopefully Ziha is pregnant as well.
I must say I hope the calf doesn’t inherit Ghandi’s bulky head! I never found it attractive.

Chang also had a big head and yet fathered beautiful, well-proportioned babies !
