Did you see the Striped Pyjama Squid?

~Thylo
No, I did not see any squid species. Now there is space between Spineless and the Playquarium that could have additional exhibits that were blocked off, but from what I recall there were only 12 tanks; so no squid, mantis shrimp, nautilus or other species.

That's a shame. On their Instagram they posted a photo of a pyjama squid saying it'd be apart of the new exhibit upon opening.

The WCS has updated their vaccination requirements on accordance with NYCs new mandate:

"Beginning on Monday, September 13th, in accordance with the mandate recently announced by New York City, our vaccination policy will change. However, there are many outdoor experiences for you to enjoy at the zoos, regardless of vaccination status.

Bronx Zoo, Central Park Zoo & Prospect Park Zoo: All guests 12 and older will be required to show proof of at least one vaccine dose in order to enter indoor exhibits. Children age 11 and younger are permitted into indoor exhibits with a vaccinated chaperone.

Be sure to stop at the Vaccination Check Station, at the Admissions area before you enter the park, to show proof of vaccination for an indoor access wristband.

Queens Zoo: This is an all outdoors experience. Indoor areas which are used for quick and limited purposes, such as restrooms and gift shops, require masks but do not require proof of vaccination.

NY Aquarium: Due to the entry and most experiences being indoors, vaccination will be required for all guests 12+ to visit/enter the NY Aquarium."

I'm curious as to why post outdated news? Announcing births that went unreported is fine but why post about the penguin closing and reopening a year ago now? The opening of the invertebrate exhibit was covered on the forum already (don't think it ever officially opened to be reopened).

Because I thought since exhibit renovations were happening and I did not see said renovations mentioned in the thread I would go and mention them. I might have a bit of an OCD issue or something that I just want to mention all the news that happened, even if it isn't important in the grand scheme of things.

I love your attention to detail even if it isn’t current news, it keeps the discussion lively!

Sea Change (the underwater viewing section of Sea Cliff’s) is planned to reopen this summer according to Facebook. This is essentially the last exhibit to reopen after Hurricane Sandy.

On June 7th, the aquarium announced that starting on July 1st, the facility will be fully opened to the public since Hurricane Sandy hit in 2013.

Is anyone planning on going to the aquarium soon? I’d love to see some photos of the newly opened exhibit. It seems like there isn’t that much information about it on the aquarium website.
