About a week ago a male Roloway monkey was born to 25-year old mother Manou

.
Visited the zoo yesterday and saw the little one, definitely cute

More news, it seems that the new Australia aviary is finally ready and might open soon, I was a bit worried after not hearing anything about it for the past years (?). At the moment, there is a sign that the animals are currently getting used to the exhibit, so it can't be entered yet. No animals signed, but from the outside I could see four young straw-necked ibises (
Threskiornis spinicollis), maned geese (
Chenonetta jubata), plumed whistling ducks (
Dendrocygna eytoni), a pied imperial piegon (
Ducula bicolor, doesn't quite fit the theme), crested pigeon (
Ocyphaps lophotes) and a common emerald dove (
Chalcophaps indica, doesn't quite fit either, but well). According to ZTL, there are also wonga pigeons, but I didn't see one. Another interesting thing I found on ZTL is that Duisburg got agile wallabys (
Notamacropus agilis) last month, which I would suppose are going to join the birds, but are probably behind the scenes yet. I had heard before that rock wallabys are planned, so that would be a surprise for me.
Besides, I was a bit disappointed that 2/3 of the Äquatorium are still closed, as the homepage explicitly states that only Rio Negro and the carnivore house are closed due to ongoing work there.
Besides that, I did see the new caribbean room in the aquarium for the first time and all animals there except for the anoles. A new addition there are cuban grassquit (
Phonipara canora, not yet signed) and some other cool things

(like the potoroo, new species for me).
