Sad news from the zoo. 29 year old reticulated giraffe, Carrie, has passes away. The zoo had been working with her for years on various age related aliments and ultimately they reached the point last week were they could do no more but end her suffering.

The male Humboldt penguin chick born to Bianca and Chango has been named Rio.

Male Bactrian camel, Ollie, has been moved to the Wildlife Conservation Centre temporarily. He had some skin lesions they were treating all summer but they couldn't get them to heal because local magpies kept pecking at the areas. To give him a chance to heal up they sent Ollie on a vacation from the magpies. They also hope that by separating him and Zsa Zsa it will encourage breeding.
