Gosh yes. It was ( kind of) OK when the chimps first moved out and it was converted, but it is a hideous eye sore.

I don’t think it’s terrible for 1 leopard, providing they have access to the whole complex, however when it was split into 3 the enclosures seemed uncomfortably small (not to mention the fact that one of them had to be kept in the snow leopard offshow cage)

Have the ring tailed lemurs gone now? The map says it the red ones in lemur walk through now?

They are no longer listed on the website, so I assume they have gone yes

You aren't wrong there. I really think it should be demolished- but the Leopards retained somewhere else in the zoo hopefully, best if a new enclosure could be built for them.

Quite a lot of mammal species, including primates have left Twycross over the last 10 years or so.

Some good news at last, just came across a tender for the national science center CONTRACTOR FOR NATIONAL SCIENCE & CONSERVATION ... | Stotles only published 4 days ago, so 15 months on from reviving the grant looks like the ball might be starting to roll

I can’t recollect the original plans but will part of it be going where the lemur walkthrough is? This would explain why they’ve left the collection.

Yes part of it is on the lemur walkthrough, so would explane why they would have to have moved, not why they would have had to have left the collection though as they have plenty of empty enclosure they could have moved to

Visited today few things of note since my last visit a few months back
The penguins parade section has gone now altogether and been stoned over.
The tapirs moveing crates have also gone out of there enclosure, the tapirs are still there though so that’s a relief.
The chimps have switched sides in chimp Eden with the larger group in the first enclosure as you enter the building if you follow the one way.
Some of the fencing has been removed from the zoos dividing wall, by the old bonobos house and the orangutans.
The lemurs house has howler monkeys in it now with the walk through locked up and all it’s signage moved.
Didn’t bother with the gruffalo today far to cold and windy but assume nothing has changed in the area .

I wonder if Twycross will build a brand new Lemur walkthrough somewhere else in a few years as they are popular but I am not sure if that features on any future plans for this zoo.

Also currently down in the area where the new conservation centre is going are the Tufted Deer and hope they will be moved elsewhere in the zoo and not leave entirely.

The Chimpanzee troops in chimpanzee Eden have been moved around a couple of times now, I visited yesterday and as J C said the bigger troop is now in the first enclosure and the smaller troop in the last enclosure, when I visited a week ago it was switched around and when I went a month ago it was switched around then to. I’m interested to see what Twycross is doing with the troop/ move around
