Twycross Zoo Twycross Zoo News 2023

We visited today. To start of 2023.

I've started to grow more fond of Lemurs recently, and was sad to see them gone.
The Crown Lemurs, there was a sign on the ground inside the enclosure that it's empty for works and such.
I wonder if they are completely gone too then?

The female Tiger was out and about, sitting on the wooden beams on top of the glass walkway most of the time, which was nice.

The Leopard was given some Christmas trees, and they put some food in there, but he was rather lazy getting the food out, lol. 'Work smarter' and all that, lol. Was hoping to see some more action, hehe.

The chimpanzees, since many of you here know a lot about them, we saw 2 that looked rather bare skinned, is this a normal thing that can happen to them, or maybe some kind of skin disease?

Food wise, I have to say, I don't like chips at all, but I do like the ones they make here.
No grease, crispy on the outside, soft and cooked on the inside (on both our visits in the last 3 months), I guess the ones in our neighborhood are all just terribly bad, haha.

It's a shame they couldn't move the lemurs inside the zoo, but hopefully, rumours are true and there is a good reason for it.

I don't know if they are part of the Twycross future plans but I hope they will build a new Lemur walkthrough elsewhere in the zoo.

Would hope so, being a world primate centre it should be a tap in species

I totally agree with you there. Fingers crossed that a new Lemur walkthrough will happen very soon. Twycross to me does lack in Monkeys now compared to the late 90s into the 2000s when they had about 50 species.

They are on the web site though along with the red ruffed. That said I haven’t seen either in ages

I've noticed with quite a few sites, they aren't all that well updated.
The Crowned Lemurs were definately listed on the app when we went last October, as we had trouble finding their enclosure, so had to look on the app to make a route from where we were.

Shame, as this was the last time we'd probably visit in a long time.
We do like the looks of Twycross and it's only a 45 min ride, but both of us aren't that much into Gorilla's/Monkeys/Primates, but we went twice now on a 10£ ticket, which then really isn't too bad at all.

Does anyone happen to know the name for their male Leopard?

The Amur leopard is Davidoff, born at Twycross in 2007 to Diesel and Izzy.

They weren't listed on the app yesterday.
Not sure if they where ever listed on the app to be honest, the app still says the boa is where it was before it’s last journey around the zoo, not saying if the web site is any better though either way it’s been well over a year since I’ve seen them and I would go at least once a month

I mentioned it in a previous post up here, but they were listed on the app when we were there last October.
Oh well... When there's any news on any of them, I'm sure I'll see it here :)

On the ring tails could they have gone in the lorikeets is that possible, has it been done before some where else, just a thought

Does anyone have any news yet of where Kayan (Orangutan) and Kristen (Leopard) have moved to? I am going on Friday so will try to find out

Please do! Nobody has admitted knowing where Kayan is although Monkeyworld is a good possibility.

Yes with the amount of empty enclosures surely they could have just relocated them elsewhere in the zoo
