Oh interesting!Supposedly mixed with the giraffes, presumably using the unused side stable to the south side of the giraffe house as housing?

I think it would be, hope it happens!Oh interesting!
Same!I think it would be, hope it happens!
I take it that it would include Blue the Ostrich who was from Longleat as 3 years he was hanging about with zebrasThere are about five Ostriches at Whipsnade
I would hope they would be given way more space then that! As at whipsnade they have a massive grass paddock and they can run at speed when they want so they need plenty of space to roam and be free.. as when we have seen them at whipsnade they are always 3 and 2 or 1,1,3 and they seem to enjoy the space the paddock brings them!I take it that it would include Blue the Ostrich who was from Longleat as 3 years he was hanging about with zebras
I would do it if I lived in london aha but I don’tThe ZSL Youth Advisory Board | The Zoological Society of London
More good stuff coming out of ZSL - can we gerrymander this with young Zoochatters...?![]()

Thinking of applying, although not entirely sure whether one would be a need to be available outside of weekends as it never specifies.
Would be nice to have some sort of say though, however little.
The new giraffe is only staying temporarily before she joins a breeding herd in Europe.Surely the arrival of another giraffe and the potential arrival of ostriches isn't going to make the situation better? The paddock is already small, this seems like a step back.
Are there any giraffe paddocks in the UK smaller than London's?
Probably Dudley's is of similar size. I can't think of any others though and I've seen nearly all of themSurely the arrival of another giraffe and the potential arrival of ostriches isn't going to make the situation better? The paddock is already small, this seems like a step back.

I'm aware but I still think my point applies. The new giraffe is only staying temporarily before she joins a breeding herd in Europe.
And Dudley's is currently being expanded! So London will certainly be the smallest it seems.Probably Dudley's is of similar size. I can't think of any others though and I've seen nearly all of them
I think it would be worth asking - I would have thought that meetings would be in the evenings, after potential members would have finished work/school.
True, though it would make it much harder for students attending universities/schools outside London to contribute meaningfully if they cannot attend the meetings regularly given timings - I hope there would be some sort of possibility of joining on Zoom/another similar platform.
I'd like to think this would be something they consider. London is rather far from Bath though it's definitely something that interests me (although I am unsure if University students are a tad too old), and unless Bristol Zoological Society sees this as a success and decides to start their own ZSL is the best opportunity.
Presumably they’d introduce any ostriches after turning the zebras out with the giraffes, so they’d get both enclosures to roam. Not that that’s much more space.Surely the arrival of another giraffe and the potential arrival of ostriches isn't going to make the situation better?
