Can anyone give me some pointers of some of the must-see animals at Columbus Zoo? The rarer animals as well. I might be going this summer, and so want to make sure I know what to keep an eye out for.

Some observations on my visit this week:
-There is a sign up by the former bison exhibit showing the new layout of the North American renovation. The river otters will get an upgrade with underwater viewing, and it looked like the Mexican gray wolves and black bears would be in exhibits near each other. I will try to upload a photo of the graphic later today.
-This may have been confirmed already, but the entrance to the nocturnal house is the space renovated for the sea dragon exhibit (photos to be posted soon).
-The kookaburra exhibit is being worked on.
-The zoo is steering away from animal rides and camels will not be returning this season. The first exhibit is for two female miniature donkeys and the riding yard is now home to the female ostriches.
-Carribean flamingos are temporarily off exhibit.

A female Mandrill was born June 6:

The new addition was welcomed into the world on June 6 by parents Hasina and Mosi.

The Mandrill family welcomed a baby boy, Bernard, last October. Bernard and the new baby are half-siblings.

I didn't realize the baby was *that* young! During my visit last monday she would briefly come out into the yard, then go back into the private indoor area. Bernard kept trying to play with them.

As for Marmalade the baby Colobus, I'm not a primate person, and she is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. She hops around on all 4 feet while running up and down. She was starting to learn to climb up onto a rail but kept falling, then figured out she could climb on the adults to get there better. We ended up getting food from the food court there so we could sit and watch her while we ate.

A long, sad article about how Jack Hanna has been struggling with Alzheimer's disease:

Jack Hanna: How Alzheimer's is stripping away the man the world knew

Quite a few news outlets have recent articles on Jack Hanna's health:

Famed Zookeeper Jack Hanna Doesn't Remember Most of His Family Due to 'Advanced' Alzheimer’s: 'Real Hard Some Days'
That's upsetting. I remember watching his show before school way back in the day. Him and Crocodile Hunter were my favorites
