Whipsnade is continuing to do well for new births.
Today saw the orange head of a baby Francois Langur clinging tightly to the mother. It was born yesterday.
There are now four flamingo chicks, the latest two look like they are only days old.

Baby Langur? That’s incredible news!

Any pics of the langur baby? Great news.

I never saw the sloths. Is it only accessible thru the train?

The langur and babirusa are on the road that passes the flamingoes, the pelican lake and the Basecamp restaurant then curves around to the right. The old sloth bear enclosure

Or coming the other way round the zoo, past the farm, turning left after the elephants (before the tigers) the enclosure is then on the other side of the yak paddock.

The train doesn’t stop though you can see the enclosure from the far side if on it.

I’ve marked it on a grab of the whipsnade map attached. The train station is pretty good for orientation.

This is far more useful! Sorry if I’ve confused things.

Wonderful news regarding the zebra foal.

I do have a question about them, however. When I visited in May, I saw a one zebra in the main paddock with the waterbuck (although there could have been more, given how spacious the paddock is), and another in the part of the former moose enclosure opposite the chimpanzees. Were they separated due to the pregnancy, or has this been the case for a while and there is simply a third adult zebra in with the waterbuck?

The two adult female zebras live with the female waterbuck and the male as you say is opposite the chimps - I had heard in a talk it’s because he doesn’t get on in the larger space with the other animals but someone can correct me.

Is there a better time to view them as when I went there was nobody to be seen

They fed them just after 430pm when I was there on Saturday. But they were around in the house when I went just after lunch time too. They weren’t outside.

Thanks. I can’t remember what time I went but I did find it okay and the house was empty. The enclosure is very nice and the new monkey forest will be great when finished.
