Hoo Farm Hoo Farm zoo news

Has anyone been lately? Last time we went was April, and it really looked like one of the Genets was pregnant.

I was always of the impression that the Genets were both female. I only saw one however, when there the other week.

When we went in April, both were in their inside bit and one looked so much bigger and with a big belly. I took a picture, but I'm via my phone at the moment.

Going this Friday for the first time anything I should look out for or anyone want me to look out for them?

You'll have better luck trying to see Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny :p
The closest we got was, seeing the straw in the box move, so we knew it was alive, lol.

Last time, food was there, we do a quick round, came back to it, food half eaten, so we missed it in like 15 min, typical.

When I was looking through the images of Hoo Zoo on Google Maps, I noticed the park map had labelled Tapirs being in where the Capybara are.

I know it's a bit early before they start printing out new leaflets but I thought I'd point this out... they seem like a species that would suit the collection very well. :)

They haven't had the Tapir for the last two years when I've visited.

They've never had the species before, so if they are arriving (I presume) they would be a new species for Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World.

That sign has been up for a long time. They've not had Tapir at any time in the last 2 years, but it has always been listed on the park map.

I would imagine, that at one stage they were expecting one, and it didn't mature. but I visit here regularly, do experiences there and there is definitely no Tapir. That park map, has had that on it for every visit in the last 2 years. The last time I went, I can't actually recall seeing the Capybara. I would imagine this was a sign that was created when expecting something, which never happened.

If you download the zoos app, which shows all animals and exhibits, Tapir are not listed anywhere on it.

Don't think this has been mentioned but when I was swooping through photos on Google Maps, I noticed Hoo Zoo now have De Brazza's monkeys and Dwarf mongoose.
