Bonobos at Columbus zoo are behind the scenes for the next year due to renovations being made to their indoor habitat. Looking forward to the improvements but will miss the bonobos while they aren’t viewable to the public.

Yes. that will be hard. When the bonobos at the San Diego Zoo were relocated to the Safari Park I was able to use my long lens to catch glimpses of them but not the same.
Maiko was euthanized. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

Such a hard loss. He was one of the first bonobos to have an implanted loop recorder (along with Jimmy). He was euthanized due to a critical decline in cardiac and renal health.

What do are they at?
Daniela is at Vallee des Singes in France and Mato at Wuppertal in Germany
I would also like to add that Maiko is survived by three daughters:
Johari (1995) & Mchumba (2000) - both at Fort Worth Zoo
and
Kiri (1993) - at Memphis Zoo.
and Junior (2013) his son at the Kumamoto Sanctuary in Japan
Does anybody know the parents of Mofana, who lived in Memphis zoo but was born in Stuttgart?
Columbus - 18-year old Faith and 19-year old Gander are expecting an infant in late fall 2023. This will be the first birth in the population in over 3 years which is very exciting!

Wonderful news! It'll be refreshing to see another new baby. I'm especially excited to see that it is Faith's baby!
What exciting news! I was beginning to think we weren't going to get any babies from the last SSP recommendations. Has anyone seen any new SSP recommendations?
Sadly they are no longer an SSP species. It said that all but one facility joined the EEP. I think the one that didn't join may be ACCI.
There won't be any, since bonobos are no longer an SSP under the new framework- seeing as there are way less than fifteen holders of bonobo.
I'm sorry to hear that. What exactly does EEP mean?
Ex-Situ Program. From what I understand, they are just the EAZA's version of an SSP.
European Endangered species Program, as Esserwarrior already mentions it’s the equivalent of an SSP.
Are American zoos participating in the European program? That's the only reason I can think of for mentioning the European Endangered species Program in this forum, and in the same sentence as an American facility.
