Interesting...the five parent-reared offspring must all be full siblings I presume- from the same pair. The two hand-raised ones must be related too- maybe full siblings to each other and half-siblings to the other five, that's if they are from the other female and the same male.Harewood also sent a single individual to Prague a year or so ago, incidentally - which raises further questions about precisely how many times they successfully bred the species.
I seem to remember the supposed 'glaucous' macaw wasn't really the right colour, with no hint of a more greenish tint to the plumage. But the story just seemed to get dropped with no outcome. Nowadays would a DNA test solve it.?
