Welcome news, in my opinion, as the repetition of species such as meerkats always frustrated me somewhat. Hopefully the Dwarf Mongooses get a replacement that is more exciting and more geographically accurate to an Indian-themed exhibit! The dwarf mongoose have moved to the former meerkat enclosure.
They do indeed hold them offshow (behind the lions, I believe), and with the plans to mix them in with the lions having failed, I wouldn't be surprised if they are trying to get rid of the species. They're an animal that I would love to see at London, but I won't get my hopes up just yet...ZTL says that Chester Zoo has the small Indian mongoose

Unfortunately, the map still shows a three-toed sloth in Rainforest Life
Unfortunately, I doubt this means anything - Amazilia Hummingbirds were kept in Blackburn Pavilion in 2014, and perhaps they justified not changing this on the basis that most visitors could easily mistake other birds, such as sunbirds, for hummers. This error has been on the map for so long that I suppose I have just become immune to it.And a hummingbird in the Bird House - maybe we can dream?

On the bright side, London's map has, unlike Whipsnade's, not omitted some of its most notable species (gaur, warty pigs, rheas etc), and I maintain that both are the best-looking maps produced by any UK zoo that I know of.
While I am excited for the new house, I am saddened by the lose of such a historic building. Have they given any recent clues what they intend on using the building for?On a sad note, the Reptile House will close at the end of the month.
So far, it seems like they may turn it into a museum. While I am excited for the new house, I am saddened by the lose of such a historic building. Have they given any recent clues what they intend on using the building for?
Great, thank you!So far, it seems like they may turn it into a museum.
What's this compared to the current house if anyone knows? The latest ZSL Annual Report confirms the new reptile/amphibian building will house 31 species, including Mangshan viper, Philippine crocodile and Chinese giant salamander.
