Hmm wonder which habitat they will exhibit them in. My bet is the current Burmese Mountain Tortoise enclosure.A female blue duiker has arrived and is currently behind-the-scenes in the African hoofstock barn. She will go on display in Jungle Trails next spring/summer, hopefully with a male for breeding.
Are there any construction pics of the leveled exhibitCincinnati Zoo on Instagram: "New animal alert! Opal is a Blue Duiker, the smallest of all duiker species and is found in central, southern and eastern parts of Africa. She just turned one year old in November, but likely reached her full adult size around 6 months old and only weighs 6.9 pounds! We are hoping to have a male join her in the future for breeding purposes in an effort to preserve this species in zoos. She is currently spending time inside for the cold winter months with the Africa department, but you will be able to see her this spring in a Jungle Trails habitat." Here is the blue duiker. After thinking of jungle trail exhibits I wonder if they are putting her in the former Mueller Gibbon island that’s filled in now.
She gave birth to a healthy calf yesterday morning!! This is her fourth calf with male Kiloro, and its gender is still unknown. From Facebook:
More Zoo Babies on the way! Kuvua the okapi is expecting and due later this year.
I wonder if the Blue Duiker habitat will a mixed species exhibit and also that view in Elephant Trek close to the new Siamang exhibit? The concept art really didn't show those extra exhibits.
Based on the concept art the view is closest to a future stream and garden. The siamangs will pretty much be in one of the elephant habitats (separated by an elevated moat according to the art) further back in the photo.I wonder if the Blue Duiker habitat will a mixed species exhibit and also that view in Elephant Trek close to the new Siamang exhibit? The zoo no longer has Golden Headed Lion Tamarin so the materials would have either been for the the howlers, sakis, or gibbons. While I don’t have a photo, on my last visit to the zoo I noticed that in the White-Faced Saki and Black Howler monkey indoor exhibit (both of which were no shows) they have materials and netting for a separate exhibit in the back left corner (most likely for their golden headed lion tamarins?)
