Safaripark Beekse Bergen Safaripark Beekse Bergen

Another African elephant calf was born last sunday, and it's another female! She was named Ajubi.

She was born over a month 'early' but after a few precarious first days the youngster seems to be doing fine.

A third elephant is still pregnant and expected to deliver in 2024.

- The dwarf zebu's have moved to the large savannah (the one with wildebeest, gemsbok, waterbuck and Grant's zebra).
- Their former enclosure is now empty, but will soon house the Persian gazelles that are currently kept in the desert area of the car safari, where they're usually poorly visible, so this will be an improvement.
- The meerkats will receive a brand-new enclosure this year, on a new location between the large savannah and the elephant valley.
- Next to the meerkats will be a second new enclosure for a new species; bat-eared foxes!

Accoring to JustGoron there's currently construction going on near the African village and the new Southern white rhinoceros separation enclosure. So this could be the location for the new enclosures. Would fit in well with the South African theme

One of the drawings of the elephant valley shows a small enclosure to the north, I believe it is going to be for the meerkats. Where the foxes are supposed to go I don't know.

Not an improvement for the gazelles themselves i think. I'm sure they liked the large area they could roam around in better than a small area next to the tigers. (Axis deer seemed to hate it there)

Happy to hear about the bat-eared foxes!
