Nashville Zoo Nashville Zoo News 2024

Based on their website, the future exhibit "Leopard Forest" will also include an exhibit for klipspringers and rock hyraxes.

Future Plans
These and Amur leopard (given no African leopard are available - don't start me on the untenable all Africa one leopard subspecies ...) as the flagship and the theme being African B/W Colobus and De Brazza’s monkeys. All this exciting and innovative.

Concept art of the upcoming Leopard Forest exhibit has been added to the future plans page of the zoo’s website.

Lots of interesting tidbits from a recent interview with the zoo's director, Rick Schwartz. Apparently the zoo is planning an orangutan complex that will also include new clouded leopard and hornbill exhibits. Elephants were briefly discussed as well, with Schwartz saying that he is still not certain if they will return at this point.

Additionally, here is a high quality site plan for Leopard Forest:

And a not-so high quality conceptual site plan for the entire African River Safari project. Do note that this plan was developed four years ago, but I still thought it'd be of interest.

To add to this, the zoo's martens are JAVAN Yellow-Throated Martens, not the north/central Asian subspecies kept by European zoos.

Where were these imported from, if not Europe? Also, do you know why they were imported? I was told a few years ago but I am now forgetting.
