Green Anaconda exhibit is getting a new pond out of cement. No more plastic.
is that why they were never on show with the river hogs?
ironic, i always see about suids being the rowdy onesI asked a volunteer about this when I visited a week ago, but apparently the reason they're not on exhibit together is because the nyala were way too rowdy around the river hogs, and are kept separate for safety concerns.
Suids usually are unruly; however, male lowland nyala are notoriously aggressive. I’ve known of them to kill red river hogs in similar set ups, one killed an okapi at Blank Park, and they usually end up killing each other in bachelor herds, too.ironic, i always see about suids being the rowdy ones
Something like that should be a priority for the zoo. Having two species alternate in an exhibit is a disservice to the visitors. I visit several times a year, and I have yet to see nyala except for a glance from a distance in a back area. With all the open space, I hope the zoo can find a way to have them on exhibit daily, especially with the new arrivals. It's one of those instances where I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to start opening up the unused hoofstock areas just so both can be on exhibit at once, though costs might get in the way of that.

Maybe nyala could have that exhibit, and the red river hogs could move to a smaller exhibit in the zoo. Or maybe that exhibit could be divided in two.
Yes, but the yard in back is very difficult for the public to see.The barn has 2 yard. main and yard behind main that is still atta hed to barn. they had male boongo in there years ago.
hope they use the timbers they used for gorilla grove for the cats to break up the concrete rock wallsThe clouded leopards should be an interesting addition (one of my favorite cat species btw), though it is sad to see the ocelots go after being on exhibit for so long.
That’s very sad about the ocelot, but that’s very exciting about the clouded leopards coming to the zoo!The zoo posyed on insta that they euthanised PJ, the Ocelot. They will be renovating the habitat for Clouded Leopards accordion to thr post.
