I wonder if the new aviary at the entrance will be finished and open to public this season.
Wishing to see what you are going to tell us!!Another article was published yesterday in Walsrode Zeitung, which mentions both these new attractions and also includes a photo of the newly finished aviary.
The article also mentions that the new "Nachtwelten" actually replaces the hummingbird house. However, it's not clear where the hummingbirds will be housed now or if they will even be on show anymore.
Tomorrow it's time for my first visit of the year, so expect another update tomorrow!
Black-winged myna (Acridotheres melanopterus melanopterus)
It was not fully stocked yet during my recent visit. But the plan is to keep Temminck's tragopan, Golden pheasant, Lady Amherst's pheasant, Mandarin duck, Baikal teal, Black-breasted thrush, Red-whiskered bulbul, Collared partridge, Grey-capped emerald dove, Eastern spotted dove, White-crested laughingthrush. What species are actually in included in the new " Reich der Mitte "?
Yes, four black-winged mynas can be seen right now in the Paradieshalle, very easy to spot and photograph! They have Black Winged Mynas???? I'd go just for them. I don't know anywhere else except for the Cikananga Foundation in Indonesia where they're kept, and Cikananga isn't open to the public! I live in the UK, so have never been, but I really hope to some day soon. Keep the news coming @Daniel Sörensen
Also, do they have any Madagascan species other than the Vasas? I'm aware that they used to have Crested + Blue Couas but don't know if they're still around.
Oh and where abouts could I found an up-to-date full species list for WVP Walsrode? I'd like to plan a week-long trip accordingly.

Is the Asian garden the Sichuan house? I'd love to visit there too, the Scaly Laughingthrushes, Brazilian Mergansers, and the other beautiful birds are very appealing to me, not least the Black Winged Mynas!Pilsen has some on show in Asian garden currently. But no idea if it´s the same subspecies like Walsrode...
Is the cuckoo-roller still on-show at Walsrode? I've been looking through your stunning pics on Flickr and came across it.
