Zoo Leipzig Leipzig Zoo News 2024

End of an era at Berlin Zoo for black rhino. Wonder what will happen with their exhibit behind okapi and bongo stalls. Perhaps some expansion for both? Well just speculating.

I do hope Leipzig Zoo can pick up again on breeding black rhino. It has been too long and the 2 other cows ... don't seem to take. Perhaps something is not right with the new exhibit (people looking down from up on the rhino ..., (mmmm, ...). Fingers crossed that cow Maburi will take a liking to the bull and finally get the pitter patter back on of a new calf in due course.

Made my first visit to Zoo Leipzig last week, incredible zoo I absolutely loved it! My only disappointment was that the Bonobo enclosure seemed to be empty. Made two visits and indoors was empty and didn’t see them outdoors anywhere, does anyone know anything about this? Do they just have a large offshow area and I was unlucky? Thanks.

I was there on Wednesday and saw them in outdoor enclosure - it's quite large, so you was probably unlucky.

As reported in the Whipsnade thread, a male Amur Tiger named Czar will be moving to Leipzig from Whipsnade in the UK soon.

Visiting for the first time (and most likely last time) this summer. Is there anything I should know?
