It is always an honour to return to my favourite zoo, and this visit was no exception. Not the best in terms of its contribution to the challenge (none at all to the UK challenge, the second consecutive visit in which this has been the case), but still nice to get numbers up ahead of some continental trips in the coming weeks which should help quite a lot!

A long-overdue post covering my return visit to London, which allowed me to ‘mop up’ some of the species missed the previous day. Bushbabies are the most significant of these, as I am not sure how many other chances I will get with them, although sadly I still had no luck with the mongooses.

Despite being the smallest of the four collections, Dessau was a very successful visit as far as the challenge goes and has boosted my numbers quite considerably! It was also a very enjoyable visit.

An overdue update. I have visited two more zoos in the meantime. More additions from Overloon compared to Antwerp seems a little strange. It seems mostly due to the new Madidi area in Overloon, which houses several delightful species including tamandua, coppery titi and two-toed sloth. Also, I have succeeded in visiting three zoos with Reeves's muntjac without seeing any!

My most successful zoo visit of the year so far by some margin, and of course my best zoo visit in general, my first time going to one of the, if not the, best zoos in the world. Painfully close the 100 mark and, truth be told, not sure if I will be visiting any more zoos this year barring my locals (as well as an aquarium which won’t contribute to this challenge much, if at all), so I may not get there at all now. But even still, very happy with 95!

EDIT: Yet again forgot to include two species due to simply forgetting in the case of the first and due to subspecies confusion for the second:

So, I in fact did manage to pass the 100 mark! Didn’t realise that all four of the seals at Oceanopolis (the largest seal collection in Europe) were Least Concern, hence my upthread scepticism about crossing the mark, but very happy to have been proven wrong. With three of the four being lifeticks and two being kept at just one other European collection each, it is a very satisfying and appropriate way to pass the 100 mark indeed!

Zoo Krefeld broke the streak! Their Formosan muntjac gave views as good as one can wish for!
