The aquarium recently recieved an AZA inspection and updated all their signage in Pirates Passage because so many of the signs were inaccurate. Many of the aquariums fish have been around since the aquarium opened so many have came and gone over the years. Some noticeable changes:
Green moray in the Shipwreck exhibit is finally signed, as it has never been signed in the past. There are still two of them in there, one is very old and has turned into a dull brownish-green color and the other one is a bit younger and still has the bright neon-green coloration.
The yellow stingray in the lionfish exhibit sadly died, but he was never signed. The spotted scorpionfish and balloonfish are now signed.
The honeycomb cowfish sadly also passed away(it was there for a long time and very old.) Currently in that exhibit are scrawled cowfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, spotted trunkfish, smooth trunkfish, and gulf toadfish which are all now signed. For the longest time, many years ago, that exhibit held scrawled cowfish, honeycomb cowfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, trumpetfish, and another kind of cowfish I forget. The trumpetfish also died a few years back. Now out of the three original cowfish the scrawled cowfish is the only one left, and he’s also very old by this point. There is one more cowfish, the longhorn cowfish, in Zone C who is a bit younger. Then the spotted trunkfishes came in followed by the smooth trunkfish and finally last year, the gulf toadfish.
