Wow, that is really sad to hear. I am blessed that I got to see him back in April.

I am actually extremely sad about this. Anchor was a seminal part of my childhood. He was a titan, an amazing creature whose majesty and unique biology fascinated me and the people of the area as one of Adventure's most popular animals. He will be sorely missed.

The aquarium recently recieved an AZA inspection and updated all their signage in Pirates Passage because so many of the signs were inaccurate. Many of the aquariums fish have been around since the aquarium opened so many have came and gone over the years. Some noticeable changes:
Green moray in the Shipwreck exhibit is finally signed, as it has never been signed in the past. There are still two of them in there, one is very old and has turned into a dull brownish-green color and the other one is a bit younger and still has the bright neon-green coloration.
The yellow stingray in the lionfish exhibit sadly died, but he was never signed. The spotted scorpionfish and balloonfish are now signed.
The honeycomb cowfish sadly also passed away(it was there for a long time and very old.) Currently in that exhibit are scrawled cowfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, spotted trunkfish, smooth trunkfish, and gulf toadfish which are all now signed. For the longest time, many years ago, that exhibit held scrawled cowfish, honeycomb cowfish, four-eyed butterflyfish, trumpetfish, and another kind of cowfish I forget. The trumpetfish also died a few years back. Now out of the three original cowfish the scrawled cowfish is the only one left, and he’s also very old by this point. There is one more cowfish, the longhorn cowfish, in Zone C who is a bit younger. Then the spotted trunkfishes came in followed by the smooth trunkfish and finally last year, the gulf toadfish.

I'm glad they finally updated the signage there, but what about the children's zone? That area has had terrible signage for years.

Yes, there have been some updates as well. There is now a baby epaulette shark in the tank where you can crawl into. The signs on the surrounding exhibits by the Grotto got updated too. There were a couple of unsigned species in there previously.

Flame hawkfish sign has also been removed, but idk what happened to it

The aquarium sent out their newsletter today and they vaguely say that something new is coming in early summer of 2025. Anybody have any idea what it is?

This comment is a few months old now but this is referring to Kaleidoscope Cove, which is a re-theming of Zone C (KidZone) and is set to open in the summer. They're working on it now and have Zone C closed to guests with the exception of the dwarf caiman area.

Please tell me they'll make it a not kids only area... the aquarium has gone downhill in the last 10 years.
