Hi everyone!
As you can tell I'm most certainly not a new member! Those who have been here for a while may remember that I was very active on this forum about 6 years ago and haven't been around at all for almost 5 years since around the start of covid.
I've lived in Norwich in the East of England for the last 2.5 years and in the last year or so I've been getting a lot of joy again from zoos and wildlife. I started lurking on the forums again a couple of weeks ago and I've decided that I want to re-engage with the zoonerd community!
So that's my long-winded way of saying that I'm planning to re-appear after half a decade!
Late last year I visited New York and got to visit all 6 NYC zoos. I also went on a short trip to Thailand where I got to see a few really fantastic species in the wild: a wild Sun Bear, Tentacled Snake (yes, seriously, in the wild!), and White-crowned Hornbill are probably highlights. This summer I had a work trip to visit Brown University in Rhode Island and UCSD in San Diego back in the US and I extended my stay to get a few zoo visits in, of course. I've also visited most of my local East Anglian Zoos, most recently a first visit to Colchester last weekend which was great and I hope to go back before too long. I've yet to visit Hamerton though and really must do soon!
I'll post a few pictures later, maybe tomorrow. As an aside, is there still no function to view the latest comments on images since migration to the new forum software or am I missing it? (Incidentally, calling it 'Media' makes me think of the stuff used to grow cells in a lab, but that's probably just me). I'm also very impressed at the new global scope of Zootierliste! It must have been a lot of work by those involved.
Anyway, I look forward to some interesting and enjoyable zoo and wildlife discussions.
