Tava (Tah-va), our male Rocky Mountain goat kid, was named after Pikes Peak, in Colorado Springs. At 14,115 feet above sea level, Pikes Peak is the highest summit of the Southern Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The indigenous Ute Tribe refers to Pikes Peak as Tava-kaavi (Tah-va-kaav), which translates to “Sun Mountain.” His sister, Antora (Anne-TORE-ah), was named after Antora Peak, a 13,275-foot peak in the Sawatch Range, in Rio Grande National Forest of Saguache County, Colorado. Antora is fluffier and completely white, always eager for adventures with her brother, jumping on rocks and exploring away from their mom, Lena. Tava is slightly smaller with a light brown stripe down his back. He mostly stays close to Lena but is becoming more independent, joining Antora for sparring and climbing when he gets the zoomies. | Cheyenne Mountain Zoo | Ruby Amanfu · Easy To Love (Instrumental)

On August 16th, the zoo announced they acquired (3.0) common raccoons named Baldwin, Baker, and Benton from an unspecified AZA facility in Louisiana which are now on display in the Rocky Mountain Wild area.

Emmett and Digger are the zoo's grizzly bears. Benton, Baker and Baldwin are the zoo's 3.0 raccoons.

The zoo is redoing their viewing of their Grizzly Bear exhibit for zoo visitors. When the project is complete, visitors will get different perspectives of the bears from ground level and from an additional guest viewing area. The project should be completed by Summer 2024.

Renovations were recently completed; some of the highlights include a keeper demonstration area, a new overnight den area that is outdoors, slides attached to the fire tower, and replacing the boardwalk with a meandering pathway (the new raccoon exhibit is located here).

The zoo has posted the plans for its giraffe exhibit renovation. It seems as if a new 10,000 sq foot giraffe barn will be built near the zoo entry. It will have indoor giraffe feeding, a cafe, gift shop, and a attached South American exhibit.

The giraffe will have 2 major outdoor exhibits, and a smaller yard. Additionally the giraffe exhibit will be expanded onto a hillside area. It appears the existing giraffe barn will also be retained. Additionally the zoos vulture and porcupine will receive a new indoor/outdoor aviary.

Overall this will be nearly four times more space for giraffes.

Boy do they ever go all out with their giraffes man, with over 200 births since the 1950s, and keeping one of the largest giraffe herds at any zoo in the country! If this plan comes to fruition, then they can hold about 60-80 giraffes in this new exhibit, including several breeding herds, and can be a contender for the #1 giraffe exhibit in the world!

Nowhere does it say that the exhibit will hold 60-80 giraffes or several breeding herds. It's been asked of you before many times, but please don't just make up information out of thin air.

This expansion does look highly impressive however, especially the unique barn design with an innovative roof structure.

I’m going to find it so dumb if they get rid of elephants just because some random guy finally decided it’s unethical but zoos like natural bridge can still thrive

No chance they get removed. Colorado Supreme Court justices are already laughing these chumps out the door.

Per the article: "[NHRP's lawyer] compared the animals to past groups subjugated before the civil rights movements and receiving later 'personhood' status — including enslaved people and women."

This is the kind of stuff they're using for their case. I'm sure they thought it was a real zinger. This argument doesn't even work on Reddit, much less in a state Supreme Court...

Maybe one day they will rule it unethical. I sure hope they don't, but it's not impossible. However, as long as these are the cases being assembled and presented by ARAs, it's not going to happen. The "elephants are people" claim they keep making wouldn't even convince a 5-year-old.
