On April 19 five manul kittens were born and are being raised by their mother. The cats are under keeper surveillance.
The other four kittens have grown up and starting from June 21st the zoo will display the kittens in two 1.5-hour intervals to the public. The park has announced that one of the kittens have unfortunately passed away on May 22.
The survival of the kittens is an impressive feat considering that their mother Azu herself was a hand-reared individual and their grandmother Polly is a founder to the Japanese population if Pallas cats. Azu’s parents unfortunately aren’t getting any younger so this litter is quite important.
