On April 3rd, the zoo announced they are constructing a new exhibit for Komodo dragons which will open in summer 2024.

On October 18th, the zoo announced that construction finally started on the exhibit which will be completed in Spring 2025. The zoo also announced they will be acquiring a (0.1) Komodo dragon once the project is completed.

Today, on October 28th, the zoo announced the loss of their Asian Elephant (0.1) Sophie, who passed away this morning at the age of 56 years.
She was estimated at 55 or 56 years of age, that is not completely known. It is a respectable age though and she had been on end of life care since June this year. ATM 2 (ex-circus) elephants remain in Babe (49, her long time companion of old) and Zina (at 64).

The zoo is setting up a funding project to raise money for Asiatic Elephant Support (in situ conservation) in her memory.

On November 21st, it was announced that the zoo acquired a (1.0) laughing kookaburra from the San Francisco Zoo in California on October 30th.

On November 23rd, the zoo announced they acquired (0.2) Weber's sailfin lizards named Circe and Eris in September which are now on display in the Reptile House.

On August 29th, the zoo announced that an African penguin hatched on August 19th.

On October 19th, the zoo announced that 2 more African penguins named Brenton and Kai hatched which are now on exhibit.

On December 2nd, the zoo announced the penguins' sexes (2.1) and names, Shrimp, Wally, and Rosie.

On December 12th, the zoo announced that another African penguin hatched on November 23rd, which brings this year's chick total to 5.
