The newborn is a male and was born Feb. 23 to two Bornean Orangutans at the zoo, Berani and Bandar.

@Smaggledagle I am curious to know where this sudden influx of Giant Pouched Rats came from? Especially with all of the importation restrictions that would’ve prevented these rodents from being so widespread in zoos.

It's not unusual for exotic animals used in scientific research to end up in zoos - either due to space limitations during the project, or when the research concludes and the animals are no longer needed.
