Ask and find

In a grassland, during dusk
"I can smell and hear a badger in the horizon. I caught relatively few prey by now; badger might help me capturing more, I will follow it."
Later
"Prey should be here, I feel it; let's start digging"
And then
"That's hunting claws, we need to escape from here quickly"
"At least ten rodents in a single digging. I hope to capture some of them. Thank you badger"

In an aquatic habitat
"I feel safe hidden under the cover of papyrus vegetation. Now, I think I see something there. Yes it's a lungfish. All right, be silent and ready for attack "

"Look there quietly. What's that, a zebra?"
"Zebra here? That's strange"
"My wrong, I could only see animal's back front"
"We are very lucky seeing this in the wild"

In a desert habitat
"I am looking for hours and no sign of prey. Where could it be?"
"Hissssssss"
"A rattlesnake. Out of here quickly"
"Fortunately, this kit fox trusted its ears and convinced I am a rattlesnake"

It's not a snake, but I can now see that my description was incorrect. I write the text again

"Trrrrrr"
"A rattle sound. Out of here quickly"
"Fortunately, this kit fox trusted its ears and convinced I am a rattlesnake"

Nighthawk? Or Whip-poor-will? Not a claim I had previously heard; I look forward to investigating further once I know the answer.

Yes, it's the poorwill. I have read that when they are on the ground and someone is close to them, they mimic the sound of the rattle to scare off predators
