Their last giraffe - bull Paul - has been transported to Dvur Kralove yesterday. The zoo will receive 3 new young Rotschilds giraffe bulls in next few weeks.
Their exhibit has capacity only for 3 animals, and while they probably hoped to maybe get approval to keep a small breeding herd instead of bachelors herd from the coordinator, it didnt happen.
This unfortunately leaves Jihlava zoo with empty giraffe pen, maybe their main attraction for public, in the most busy part of the year - July+August usually generate almost 50% of annual income. This is because the transport of Paul got delayed twice - in second half of 2024 due to blue tongue (Dvur was inside the BT zone, Jihlava outside the zone), and in early 2025 Dvur stopped all transports once again because of foot and mouth precautions.
