On November 23rd, the zoo announced they transferred a (1.0) red wolf named Peanut to the North Carolina Zoo in North Carolina.

On January 29th, the zoo announced they acquired a (1.0) red wolf named Ranger from the Smithsonian National Zoo in Washington D.C. which is now on exhibit.

On January 30th, it was reported that a Cotton Patch goose passed away, with test results later positively identifying the cause of death to be avian influenza. As a response, the facility closed the farmyard and outdoor aviary exhibits to the public until further notice, as well as euthanized all birds in the affected exhibit (which included 4 Cotton Patch geese, 4 Khaki Campbell ducks, 2 emperor geese, an Indian runner duck, and a domestic duck (breed not specified).

Following the arrival of Ponya the 11 month old female red panda the current male red panda Dorji will soon be departing the zoo and they will bring in a new male to partner with Ponya.

  • Ramo – Portuguese for “branch/stick” (she loves to climb!)

On February 14th, the zoo officially announced the anteater's name, Kayapó.

On June 12th, the zoo announced that a black-tailed prairie dog was born which is now on exhibit.

* Also in late May, the zoo announced that 2+ fish hatched, but I do not know what species they are or even if they are on display, so I have decline to include them officially.
 
I visited the zoo today and learned they have a new Ocelot. It is on exhibit ,but I didn't see it as it is still quite shy as it acclimates to it's exhibit.
Saw the Chinese Gorals which was the reason for my visit. Beautiful animals!
They have a bird show again this year and the species I saw today were

Eurasian Eagle Owl
American Barn Owl
Harris's Hawk
Gyrfalcon (my first!)
