There's also the North American elephant population transfer and shift ideas thread I made in March which might be more applicable thinking about it. The initial post in there had all the (presumably forsome of them) longer term North American facilities listed for which individual should be transferred and which geriatric facility is should become breeding or bachelor holders. You even called me out for my lack research on some of the stuff before creating threads as I wanted the two Canadian facilities ALS and Granby to continue housing elephants when a breeding ban is on its way there hahaha.
Same for me wanting Bronx to continue their elephant program with a new facility and proper herd when they clearly said they won't house them again after their two cows pass.

The only one that I'm aware of was made by Theelephantpage on Instagram, but I don't know how often it is updated.

I'd say there's no harm in trying to collaborate to make a full global family tree! I'm personally unfamiliar with any websites that would work efficiently however given the amount of lines crossing, inbreeding, etc.
I think that would be a great idea. Maybe in a word document here?
a website would be costly ? That’s why I think a word document on here would be beneficial for all.
It's probably not active because you continue to say the same thing over and over and go on and on about bachelor herds and can a facility hold bulls and moves and more. It clogs up of the threads and discourages others. Just chill!

I apologize if I did and it should hopefully be no biggie. I'm still learning how navigate to forum as a rookie. So I'm glad I might get some constructive criticism every now and then

you will learn the means with experience. Those zoos and elephants takes years and years to see something to happen. Elephants die. Zoos phase out. Elephants give birth. Zoos renovate for elephants or change their elephant program. We don’t make the decisions we are passionate about the elephants.
maybe you should work towards working for a zoo and be part of the decision making.

I remember you suggested that earlier in the thread whe I wanted Indianapolis to provide indoor viewing for their visitors and replace their concrete flooring with sand. I'm thinking of moving further up in the US for a bigger possibility of working at an AZA facility even as more a docent or someone in the education department. Birmingham, North Carolina, Denver, Tucson, Tyler, OKC, Tulsa, St Louis Smithsonian Atlanta, Baltimore, Milwaukee Memphis San Antonio Oregon or Cincy would all be the best choices for me personally because most of the US cities listed have a lot of character and charm besides their zoos or have very pretty countryside nearby (as I love spending time in rural landscapes). I esp would prefer work at a zoo with elephants over one that doesn't.you will learn the means with experience. Those zoos and elephants takes years and years to see something to happen. Also I don't think Frankie_number_1_fan was really saying i was posting meaningless or stupid content about elephant transfers nor was she being critical. But she did have a point when she said user's should try to make more educated speculations on this thread that create meaningful conversations. I really hope I'm not the only user to accidentally clog up threads or have conversations that could be redundant.
yeah. I am not a big fan of that site though.
there was another. Oli something but I think it went defunct. The site was more of a focus on UK Zoos but the owner of the site put on many images of the exhibits and some intimate details because he had relationships with some of the keepers so he was able to get inside. That’s how I saw pictures of Sammy at Amersfort damaging the walls of the bull barn. I still can’t believe that bull died young.
it sounds like you have a good plan.
Frankie is a great contributor to ZC! It does take time to be educated. I have been following elephants for 20 or so years “Meeting” with people in USA and UK helped to expand my awareness. I still wouldn’t say I am an expert but take time to know the means and ways of things.

FYI that has not really happened as much now as I have might have done on my first few weeks of using this platform, again i'm new to using forums but have a good sense of the rules here. In fact if you read the future population thread, I barely talk about future bachelor holderz and transfers. Other factors may include other forum members have bigger priorities over the threads and this entire website.

With that, let's talk about Onguard. Does anyone know what SD Zoo plans to do with him? I suspect he's part of the package deal with the platypuses they received just about the same time a few years ago. There are no articles about the plans with him, and we know SDZ focuses on the Africans. I can not imagine Australia declaring him a surplus as he is Kulab's only calf and she is not going to have another one.

He's also currently in Miami, has been for seven years now, so it's not like Australia is going to ask for him back.

I get that it's difficult to tell online, but it's generally considered good etiquette to not assume. Go with gender neutral terms like "they/them" until you know.
