Taman Mini Indonesia Indah Taman Mini Indonesia Indah news

They were already there since last year I believe.

Specifically fluvitrygon signifer ! They were previously at the circular tank that house the potamotrygon ray, in front of the former touch pool.

Like I said, the gourami room has been mentioned during the revitalization as being planned to house aquatic amphibians, like axolotl. Though there haven't been any update of it.

The archerfish are definitely going to be added soon or atleast are present off-display, they're still signed in the Jagat Satwa Nusantara website. I forgot the exact number, but I think they labelled multiple species of archerfish.

Hopefully they'll get those unfinished parts done, since the insect museum's revitalization should be finished by now

In another news, the park out-of-nowhere shows that they have and displays the Javan binturong (Literally not as an new addition, just straight to showing and enrichment program). Where they are was not disclosed and they didn't show the full exhibit, which looks rather concerning with the brick Walls and cement floor.

Possible new zoo area in Taman Mini?

We can say undoubtedly, YES

Amazing! I can't wait to see its opening anytime soon! The roster of animals is pretty promising, especially the echidna, the pangolin and the kinkajou.

What a bizarre name choice, probably the first time I burst out laughing when hearing zoo news lmao :D

I was with @Mossman Joe and @kevin moses santosa when we first knew about the name, even we all agree on how stupid it was. You're telling me that I could pet your anoa and echidna? :p
Yeah, I'm also suprised to see the mammal's park name for the fist time. The name "farm house" fits more on a petting zoo.

Looking at it again, the teaser doesn't really show any Anoas, but the logo does feature a Muntjac, which is DEFINITELY an animal that belongs on a farm :)

I would have accepted a simple, generic name like Dunia Mamalia or Mammal Paddock, anything that communicates you're housing exotic species

but the logo does feature a Muntjac, which is DEFINITELY an animal that belongs on a farm :)
Binturong is featured in Jagat Satwa Nusantara main logo, so I presumed at first that they might be the main star of the park and also help that these guys are super popular. The choosing of muntjac as their main mascot/logo MIGHT be symbolic, since they had this guys since all the way back in the old mammal paddock.

I wonder what happened to the mouse-deer and all of those squirrels? Especially the former, since this species are definitely still interesting yet well-known to the general Indonesians.

They could've called it "Dunia Mammal" or "Taman Mamalia" to go with the other parks but no, Farm House is a weird choice of name for a place housing endangered fauna as its main object of conservation

No sign of the echidna, though. Hopefully it'll be displayed there.
I agree, it should be named "taman mammalia" instead of "farm house" due to keeping endangered animals. By the way, I'm hoping dholes and indian hares to be present in the upcoming "farm house".

I really would love to see the likes of Jawa Rusa, Anoa and/or Serow and Binturong in this particular area.

Having said that ... the branding of the area as "Farm House"...., mmmm begs the question

@Rizz, any idea what the current captive population of dholes is like in Indonesian zoos?
Are they from Jawa or Sumatera (I tending towards the latter ...) origins?
Faunaland within Ancol Dreamland is currently the only holder of dholes in Indonesia, in which they have two. They came from a private facility that managed Faunaland, which had a succesful breeding of around four dholes in 2022 (The first eks situ breeding). They're confirmed to came from Sumatra, so you're correct.

I have no clue where, if true, the dholes of TMII will came from, since it appears they have a wider supplier chain for their animals. Though, getting a captive Sumatran dholes from the aforementioned facility might be cheaper and safer, the Javan subspecies was last kept in Surabaya two decades ago.

FAUNA INDONESIA on Instagram: "Another Fauna Indonesia achievement . World’’s first captive breeding success of Sumatran Red Dhole / Anjing Merah Sumatra. ( Cuon alpinus sumatrensis ). Presumably more endangered than tiger. Indonesia hidden biodiversity . Pertama kali di dunia keberhasilan reproduksi anjing merah Sumatera yang terancam kepunahan , semoga kelak dapat dipulangkan kembali ke rumah mereka hutan Sumatera yang masih tersisa dan aman dari manusia . #exsituconservation , #cuonalpinus ,#ajak ,#anjinghutan ,#anjingmerah, #dhole , #wilddog ,"
