Benfoxster's Animal Art

I meant to post some of these for a long time now but for some reason I kept forgetting.

For context, I'm currently making a collection of animated "shorts" that I hope to have uploaded onto a YouTube channel eventually. They will more so be storyboards.animatics with music, sound effects, and voice acting rather than full frame-frame animation.

The following are meant to be incidental characters that appear as background characters and minor roles within the show.

I've been working on these incidental characters for about two years now, my oldest here dating to about February of 2023 I believe. This particular drwaing was done around February of 2024 I believe. The inspiration primarily comes from this animal signage from Disney Animal Kingdom's Kilimanjaro ride:

I drew the cheetah and ostrich, but I was not too happy with how they've turned out, so I replaced them with a lion and gorilla (even though there are no gorillas on the ride). I also drew the saddle-billed stork but I cut him out because he didn't fit.

Here is the non-scanned version of the art too to see how they're always done by hand.

I have a lot more drawings, but I'll be uploading one every day or other day. For some later drawings I'll be asking for some feedback, but feel free to offer feedback or criticisms whenever you want.

Here is one of my first "animal character sheets" that I made a few years ago and what helped start this project.

My original goal was to make character sheets representing each continent (with the exceptions of Europe and Antarctica due to time), so I first began with North America:

You'll see in the future that I will be redoing many of the animals featured on these character sheets, so some species like the bighorn ram and grizzly bear will come out much better and more accurate in future drawings.

Funny enough for the current storyboard short I am working on, the California condor, mountain lion, and bighorn ram will make appearances as incidental characters. Other species like a desert tortoise and coati (who weren't included here) may also make appearances. So in my show animals may be featured even if they did not make it onto one of the character original character sheets.

Sorry for not posting in over a week, things got real busy for me. To make up for it I'll post three character sheets today and try to post Australia before the end of the week. After Australia we'll finally get to my updated art.

Here is South America:

And here was my original Asian animals character sheet:

Finally for today here is what was my first African animals sheet prior to the first image I included in this thread:
