  • Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae)
  • Southern Cassowary (Casuarius casuarius)
  • Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)
  • Papuan Frogmouth (Podargus papuensis) - signed, but unsure if I saw any as they are mixed with Tawny Frogmouth in the same aviary and all the frogmouths I saw (except one Tawny) had their eyes closed, and I struggle to tell the two species apart without using eye colour)

Did you manage to confirm if they were wild gudgeons? I visited today and they are everywhere! I used your advice and headed straight to the slender bluetongue and managed to see it well. What a great little creature.

I haven't contacted Harley's about the gudgeons. Excellent you saw the slender bluetongue, did you get photos? If so, they would be the first of the species in the ZooChat galleries. Is the tropical bird aviary open again yet?

I'll contact them and if I get a response I'll let you know. I got a few wild gudgeons spotlighting across into the Daintree last night; I think they were the same species. The slender bluetongue photos will be in the gallery in a few days.

The tropical bird aviary is still under renovation. The predatory bird aviary was open with Papuan Frogmouth not seen.
