Wow, and that's, what, your 7th post? Nice lol.even though i would love to see tigers back, splitting the cage in half is a dumb typical 10 yr olds idea.
Edit: I think Bristol could do the honourable thing and take on a white tiger, and give some real education about why they're white and the fact that they're about as pure a subspecies as a domestic cat. I highly doubt they would even consider white tigers though, I'd think much less of them if they did.
He's only ten, he probably didn't know.
a im 11 and b, i said not to breed them, but to hold them while other places breed them!, and i know most tigers in the uk are hybrid
Cat-man. Your suggestions are perfectly valid but I don't think Bristol will ever keep White Tigers again. They are a serious 'conservation' minded zoo/ organisation and non-purebred cats don't come into that role, so no, I don't think it would happen. Also, the Lion enclosure is a decent size now- splitting it in two would invite criticism about 'too small' enclosures again...
I wouldn't mind seeing a comletely new enclosure built somewhere else in the zoo for Sumatran tigers but that's more likely to be at the new 'Wildlife Centre' if it happens.
I think they will just keep the existing Lions and replace each of the pair as they die.
thanks, i understand a bit better now, but ive always seen the lion enclosure as quite large, but judging on the zoo uk
it is quite a decent size now, but that is because its been enlarged several times. Originally the site it is on had five very much smaller cages for big cats(there was still at least one white tiger then) and they were really pretty small cages. There are picures of one of them in the Bristol section of the gallery. Gradually they got rid of all the other cats and extended the 'cages' together and then outwards too, in order to make the one decent sized enclosure that the Lions have today.thanks, i understand a bit better now, but ive always seen the lion enclosure as quite large, but judging on the zoo uk
they had tigers leopards white tigers and i think at one point snow leopards.
I don't think they ever had Snow leopard(?) They certainly had Pumas though.
the cages were tiny and inhumane
