You must be very patient then! xD My mom told me to get a membership since I go alot and "alot" to her means once a month I guess. I declined though, cuz I probably won't go alot after those 2 months. xD The animals got the best of you. :P

I go about once a month too! I would like to go more, usually whenever I feel like it and whenever I have time.

I would go alot more, but I would probably get bored of the zoo and rarely go. xD That's why I only go when I feel like it, or because of new arrivals, new exhibits, babies and all that. :)

@ Flixox I am the same way but some days I feel like going to take pictures.

Although today was probably the worst day to take pictures at the zoo, I did manage to take some decent shots in the Eurasian section. The rain was a bit unwanted but it was overall a nice day, until my camera died!

The Tundra Trek, wow... this exhibit has come along way since the beginning,
- teepees have been added to the intrepertive trail,
- "soiling" of the reindeer exhibit has begun and seems to have finished. The reindeer exhibit doesn't seem to impress me right now, I wish they had the exhibit a bit lowered like in Eurasia, but right now it seems that the exhibit is level with viewing meaning ugly mesh, hopefully I am wrong,
- the second barrier of the duck pond and polar bear exhibit has started,
- grass has grown in the arctic wolf and fox exhibits,
- still can't find the whale skeleton and the childrens fox burrows seem to be complete.

On a side note, the snow leopard cubs were not on exhibit today when I went and the zoo is doing a lot of work in the America Pavilion.
- the marine room now has newpaper blocking viewing, hope it is ready soon,
- the beaver and otter exhibits are emptied and the zoo is doing work on the "underwater" section of the exhibits. To be honest I really want to know if there is a specific reason to why they are doing this, all they are doing is adding some more rockwork and I feel that if there is no reason for them to do that, why are they wasting the money on it.

The zoo also opened there new Zootique giftshop, the main gift shop got a major renovation and actually looks amazing! It definitely hit what they were looking for.

So this concludes my little review of the zoo today. I plan on going again sometime soon, possibly this week or next.

Yea, I just woke up. I looked outside and it was raining. :( That sucks. But thanks for the updates on the Tundra Trek. I wonder why they are renovating the beaver and otter underwater exhibits. I thought those two exhibits were suppose to merge and house the Jaguars in phase four.

Thats what I thaught too, its possible that it could be for maintenance of a leak or something, but if its just an addition, I think the zoo should spend there money elseware.

Agreed, and the last time I went to the zoo I was wondering why the main gift shop was closed. Hopefully, I won't be disappointed when my friends and I rampage the place. ;) Did you manage to get any pics of the Tundra Trek? Or just the Eurassia section?

I don't have any pics of the Tundra. My camera died as soon as I went to start taking pictures. Although I will post pictures the next time I go, but by that time it will probably be a pre-opening.

I am only going to post Tundra Trek pictures once more until the opening to build up suspense!

Exciting! Hopefully the Tundra Trek is a success, but you told me the reindeer exhibit has a mesh fencing....I hope you are right and they use something else. I have one question, you know the Arctic wolf holding area, that has the bridge crossing the exhibit, is the fencing for the holding area permanent?

Yes, I believe so. Its hard to tell cause I am not 100% sure what area you are talking about, try to find a picture in the gallery and then I can help.

I really don't like the fencing. :s It's fine if it's an off exhibit, but this can be viewed by the public.

I look at it this way, the exhibit is great for the wolves and its a lot cheaper than having concrete walls.

True, but if they had some extra money, that shouldn't be wasted on silly things, rock work could of been used as fencing. But I understand where you are coming from, maybe if they planted some trees around the exhibit, it will blend with the fences and try hide the fencing.

There are trees there now, remember that picture was taken in the middle of construction. There are trees planted everywhere now.

Have fun! Hopefully I would have figured out how to upload pictures before I go to the zoo before the tundra opens so I can post last-minute photos.

Well an update of the Tundra Trek is posted in the thread above! The America's pavilion beaver/otter renos are still being done.
