Reading threads with ignored people in the post

Finding this tool on the forum is the best thing i have done on here,as now i don`t have to plough my way through so many meaning less and pointless threads on the U.K part of the forum.:):):):):)

I am glad for you.
Thank you very much i know we don`t always see eye to eye on subjects but i do enjoy the discussion some of your post provoke,at least with me blocking people it means i will still me about posting on the forum instead of walking away from it which i was on the verge of.

I have just discovered the ignore button too. I am glad and sad at the same time. For me, the quality of content of some threads and/or forums has been so low or simply malinformed and inaccurate. I walk the Zoo Chat forums to read, learn and discuss and enjoy on zoos, wildlife that I am familiar or non-familiar with. It is imperative that the information or discussions people have on this forum conform to some standard and not digress to the level of chit chat, mere speculation or plain inaccurate information. Lately, I am sad to say some of the threads people write in on do contain a swathe of gibberish and chit chat, but rarely do inform the readers on anything other than talk to some converted mass (which is not to dissimilar to a Michael Jackson fans at a concert so to speak ...).

Do not get me wrong here .... I do love to agree or disagree whichever the case and I do not mind in the slightest bit disagreeing if it came to that. Another issue that has been bugging me lately is that sometimes when you make valid and argued points on zoos or biological or socio-political matters here, some forumsters seem to take that really personal and instead of discussing the pros and cons or different realities involved start putting their perceived adversary down. In these instances ... I have just thown up my hands in the air on some thread or other and even considered myself to walk away.

I am glad that I can now have some peace of mind again, enjoy the many well informed posts and forumsters on the great forum that is Zoochat and in the save knowledge that I can block out particular threads or those whose posts I really do not enjoy at all for some or all of the above reasons. Thanks again SIM and friends for providing a great service to us all!

K.B.

Don't forget if your ignoring someone you may also be missing out on information they have said and then find yourself repeating that without even realising. The ignore button is helpful in its own right but it should be used with good reason.

Thats a risk i will have to take but it was getting to the point of that or walking away from the forum that I enjoy so much,so with much regret I took the decision to ignore people and if I want to find out what people that i`ve blocked have said i can always look while I`m logged out but from what I`ve seen of the posts from them while logged out I will just be wasting my time, but atleast I can enjoy the forum how I want to without worrying about reading stuff which means nothing to me.

I cannot find the original thread that described this function, Does it also block PM's?

Why i don`t think you`ve ever started a completely pointless thread or asked a realy stupid question which has no logic to it,also seen as i`m replying to this also means i`ve seen this reply to respond to,becausevthe people i`ve blocked i cannot read their post at all.

I see where you're coming from, but generally the people who get ignored don't really have anything valid/factual/good to say lol.
PS - Hi Zoogiraffe! :D

I don`t mind reading posts with people that i`ve blocked because as you say they normally have nothing worthwhile to say,in many case it makes the thread one hell of alot shorter to read for me.

Sorry, couldn't resist (although it would have been embarassing if you hadn't have replied :o).

This is really one hell of a depressing thread in a community of only 600 active members, all of them - from different perspectives - passionately interested in the same subject.

Yes it is unpleasantly supercilious. The ignore button might be a useful tool but there's no need to crow about it:(

Yeah... strange!

Though I know of even worse examples than this one! I happen to be interested in electric guitars. I know of internet forums dealing with a single model of an electric guitar - with a hundred times more members than this site, where the members become enimies for life over this or the other technical detail about that particular electric guitar...

"Oh the humanity..."
