Which zoos in germany you will see in october ?
Which zoos in germany you will see in october ?
Wow, thanks, Eduardo!
So German friends (and anyone else you might know): Suppose I'm in that western Germany area -- in the Koln-Muster-Dusseldorf area (is there a name for this highly populated region?). Suppose I'm choosing from the following zoos:
Munster, Krefeld, Duisburg, Wuppertal, Dortmund, Koln
WHICH would you prioritize if you were visiting this area? Suppose I can only get to 3 or 4 of them -- which ones?
Don't forget Zoom as well.
I myself did a tour of the Cologne-Rhine area four weeks ago, seing Cologne Zoo, Duisburg Zoo, Wuppertal Zoo, Dortmund Zoo, Frankfurt Zoo, ZOOM and GaiaPark. All in all it is a very nice area for zoobetrotting![]()

Would you like to do a review on those zoo's for the members![]()
@ANyhius:
I have been in this Ruhr-Area a year ago and regarding at my opinion, you should not miss out visiting of Koln, Wuppertal, Duisburg and Krefeld. But it depends on what are you interested for, this zoos have some unique animals in its collections, in Koln is kept the very last Saiga in any Zoos (with exception of any Russian institutions ), the last Red-howler monkeys and Doucs in Europe, Broad-nosed and Belted-ruffed lemurs etc. I like this zoo very much, of cource there are some outdated enclosures like in any zoos worldwide ( for bears for example) and it is a pitty they have built the huge elephant enclosure, the former look of a part of the zoo is beyond recovery ( there were exhibits for Indian wolves,Javan bantengs and Vicunas on the current elephant area), but all in all, quite a good zoo and still worth a visit.
Wuppertal is known for its unusual species like Bairds tapirs, Black-footed and Temmincks Cats, Indian leopards, White-lipped deers, Drills, Dusky leaf monkeys etc, Duisburg is a really good zoo, with Amazon river dolphin in a very nice exhibit, Giant otters, Wombats, King colobus and spectacular Dolphin show, Krefeld is an enjoyable zoo too, with Mountain anoas, Babirussas, Bat-eared foxes, Tamanduas etc, but in my point of view, any of this zoos
are not a world class, if would like to see a really world class zoos in Europe (regarding myself), you should visit Rotterdam, Arnhem,Emmen, Prague and Chester, I consider all of this zoos a bit better than the zoos in Ruhr area.
I hope, I did not aggravate any of the german Zoo-fans![]()
