Looks like Aust Zoo have now added two female Giraffes to the collection after the male arrived a year ago

I would expect when the African safrai area opens yes :D

Uh huh. I believe that's supposed to open after the Madagascar exhibit, which I believe was supposed to open not long after Steve died.

Call me a cynic - but I reckon they're perfectly happy with the way things are. They still get hundreds of thousands of people through the gates paying their exorbitant admission prices... and then they have a bunch of star attractions out the back for people wanting to pay extra. And I just hate the fact that they're getting rhinos and giraffes from public zoos in order to do it, whilst small family-operated zoos without multi-million dollar royalties coming in scrimp and save to be able to acquire the same animals.

It's not like there's any shortage of money coming into Irwin Inc.

So what animals would you think they will stock this large new Safari with if the rhinos and Giraffe are not there?

Is this supposed to be a tie-in with the resort they're going to build on the state forest that the state government gifted to them?

Australia Zoo has three giraffe, one male, Forrest, from Auckland (?), Mapenzi, a pure blood Rothshild female born at Perth and another female. (From where?). The giraffe and rhino will be on display on the African Safari savannah thingy sometime. There will also be a giraffe feeding experience for the public (presumambly you will pay for the privalage to feed a few carrots).

Something like $95 for a giraffe encounter at Australia Zoo - gives you half hour with the giraffe keeper and a photo. Or you could go to any of our major zoos, catch the keeper talk and pay $5 to feed the giraffe. . . hmmmm

sigh and someonehad a go at me for being biased against Australia zoo. One good thing is that you can actually see the elephants and tigers without paying extra.

I was just about to ask what else can you see other than elephants and tigers? Are the red pandas on display up there?

One Bonus is, There's a good $15,000 there every week to push back into the zoo. They are good sales people. . .

Dunno where the money goes, but it's seemingly not the zoo. The only developments in public areas since Steve died, I believe, are the red panda and the binturong enclosures (I think the binties are on display?).

I think a giraffe or two have or will move from Monarto to Australia Zoo. Pretty expensive stuff to see some of these animals.

I'd say. $80 to go 'behind-the-scenes' in the Binturong exhibit? I would like to think it's a joke but sadly something tells me it isn't.

Am I the only one who didn't realise that Australia Zoo has an Andean Condor. Chief, a male born at Taronga.

No jay - I didn't either. It seems that Australia zoo has been acquiring animals almost by stealth.

And the prices of those various animal encounters are just ridiculous - who are the suckers who pay that much, locals or overseas visitors?

Forrest came from Auckland via quarentine at TWPZ. He is a hybrid so I can't see why they spent the money on importing him when they could of had a pure bull from Monarto or TWPZ?
